We have a table of Local Restaurants in Carovigno (the food capital), and other local towns, which is available to guests at the villa, and to others on request. Carovigno is quite a foodie centre, as are Cisternino and Ceglie Messapica.

Most restaurants have a weekly closing day (most commonly Monday). However, the closing days vary so there is always somewhere to eat. Some Italian restaurants are only open in the evenings. Some on the coast are only open in summer. However, if you stay in the villa, there will be a fuller list of places which open when others don't.

Local Food Shops abound (for example there are two cheese shops and two fresh pasta shops in Carovigno alone, and  several bakeries which can be highly recommended.) However, note that, in common with all towns in this part of Italy, most shops are closed from about 12.30 or 1pm until 4.30 to 5pm. (They are then
open again in the evenings till around 8 - 8.30 pm.) However, if you want the one stop shop then the 'Famila' supermarket between San Vito and Carovigno is open all day Monday to Saturday (may close Thursday afternoons in winter).

The Markets are an interesting experience, and cheap. Note that they open very early in the morning, and close by midday (some stalls close even earlier in winter).

Carovigno's is on Tuesday mornings, San Vito's on Mondays, and the large one in Ostuni
is held on a Saturday. All of these have a wide range of food, clothing, shoes, and general goods - sometimes even furniture! Martina Franca's is on a Wednesday.
